Smartphone manufacturers spent years racing to shrink bezels, with screens expanding and black bars shrinking steadily. By roughly 2014-2015, that trend halted. Nearly every major phone settled on roughly 1mm bezels on all sides, and the industry collectively stopped pushing further. Tecno, a budget brand under the Transsion umbrella, has now moved past that checkpoint. The company's achievement marks a significant milestone in display technology, finally delivering what seemed imminent years ago: a phone with virtually no border between screen and chassis. The breakthrough comes as the industry grapples with reducing bezels while accommodating front-facing cameras, sensors, and speaker hardware. How other manufacturers respond to Tecno's bezel-free design remains to be determined, but the achievement suggests the decade-long stall may finally be ending.
