Slack is rolling out Slackforce Surfaces, a new feature that lets users generate interactive reports, dashboards, and polls directly within conversations using AI.
The feature allows users to describe what they need to Slackbot, which then gathers relevant data from chat history and connected applications like Google Drive and Salesforce to build the requested tool.
Once generated, these Surfaces can be shared with colleagues, pinned to channels, and interacted with by team members. The capability spans multiple formats including interactive charts, reports, dashboards, presentations, polls, and microsites.
Slack's move reflects the broader adoption of generative AI across workplace collaboration platforms. The feature aims to streamline reporting workflows and reduce the need to switch between applications. Users can create and iterate on these tools without leaving Slack, potentially saving time on data compilation and visualization tasks.
The feature is currently in rollout, with availability expanding to more Slack workspaces.
