Google's desktop search app for Windows, which mimics macOS Spotlight, is now available globally in English. The app works on PCs running Windows 10 or newer.

Users can access the search bar by pressing Alt + Space, bringing up a search interface that lets them query both the web and local files simultaneously. The app also integrates with Google Drive, enabling searches across cloud-stored documents. The search interface offers multiple viewing modes, including All, Images, and AI Mode, allowing users to filter results by content type. Google announced the feature last year as a closed test before rolling it out more widely. The app is available for download from Google's website. The feature brings Windows users functionality comparable to Spotlight on macOS, streamlining access to web searches, local files, and cloud storage from a single keyboard shortcut.
