GITDOT: OPEN-SOURCE GITHUB ALTERNATIVE BUILT IN RUST

Gitdot enables developers to create, push, and pull from repositories with support for both public and private repos. The platform can import repositories from GitHub as read-only mirrors or perform full migrations. The project distinguishes itself through two key design choices: a Rust-based backend and a web interface modeled after command-line tools like fzf, broot, and vim rather than traditional web applications. This CLI-inspired approach trades some conventional affordances for a different interaction model. Currently, Gitdot lacks several features common to mature Git platforms, including issues, pull requests, and CI/CD integration. The project remains in early stages but offers an alternative for developers seeking self-hosted or community-driven Git infrastructure. The open-source nature allows community contribution to fill feature gaps.
